Overview
Jaxx Liberty is a multi-currency cryptocurrency wallet developed by Decentral Inc., co-founded by Ethereum co-founder Anthony Di Iorio. Launched in 2018 as a major upgrade, it unifies portfolio management, real-time market data, and a built-in ShapeShift exchange into one slick interface. With over 80 supported assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dash, it serves both beginners and experienced users seeking a self-custody solution. non-custodial

Core functionality
Jaxx Liberty operates as a Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) wallet, generating multiple public addresses from a single 12-word recovery phrase. This enhances privacy by rotating addresses per transaction. Each address has a corresponding private key; users can view them via Tools → Display Private Keys. The extended public key (xPub) allows view‑only portfolio tracking without spending authority. The wallet also features a block explorer, top-100 market charts, and an integrated ShapeShift exchange for in-wallet crypto swaps.
Users can set transaction fees based on speed (low/medium/high), and the wallet displays spendable balances across all supported tokens. Desktop versions (Windows, Mac, Linux) and mobile apps (iOS, Android) sync via a pairing mechanism, making it convenient for multi-device users.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why does Jaxx show multiple private keys for Bitcoin?
As an HD wallet, Jaxx generates a new public address for each transaction to improve privacy. Each address has its own private key. If you have received BTC multiple times, you'll see several key pairs. Your 12‑word seed phrase is the master backup for all.
2. Can I use Jaxx Liberty on desktop and mobile simultaneously?
Yes. Jaxx supports cross‑platform pairing. You can sync your wallet across devices using the 12‑word recovery phrase or the pairing feature, and balances/transactions stay consistent.
3. Does Jaxx Liberty charge fees for exchanges?
The wallet itself is free. ShapeShift integration may include conversion fees. Jaxx derives profit from facilitating those swaps; transaction (miner) fees are adjustable by speed.
4. Is Jaxx Liberty custodial or non‑custodial?
Non‑custodial. Your private keys are stored locally on your device and encrypted with your password. Decentral does not have access to your funds or keys.
5. How do I view my private keys or xPub in Jaxx Liberty?
Go to Menu → Tools → Display Private Keys. Select the currency to view individual private keys. For the extended public key (xPub), navigate to Menu → Tools → xPub.
6. What should I do if Jaxx Liberty doesn't open or crashes?
First ensure your device meets requirements. If persistent, back up your seed phrase, then try clearing the application data or reinstalling. In rare cases, corrupted IndexedDB files may cause issues; recovery via seed phrase on a fresh install usually resolves.
